NFL Week 1 Predictions
—
Friday 8/9/23
10:20am Detroit Lions vs Kansas City Chiefs @ Arrowhead Stadium
The Chiefs are the defending champions, and we can’t see them losing to the Lions in the opening game of the season.
There is some confidence with the Lions this year, but they usually let punters down. Therefore, given the generous –6.5 line for the Chiefs, who have Patrick Mahomes at their disposal, we can’t turn it down.
We expect the line to move to at least 7.5.
Betting tip: Chiefs –6.5 @ $1.90
Chiefs by 10
Monday 11/9/23
3:00am Carolina Panthers vs Atlanta Falcons @ Mercedes-Benz Stadium
We have big expectations from the Falcons, and they are likely to go under the radar. However, they are favoured to beat the Panthers on Monday.
With essentially a rookie quarterback, the Falcons could mature into a quality team, and we don’t see the Panthers doing much.
Take the –3.5 available for the home side.
Betting tip: Falcons –3.5 @ $1.90
Falcons by 6
5:00am Cincinnati Bengals vs Cleveland Browns @ Cleveland Browns Stadium
Backing the Browns with confidence isn’t easy, so we’re picking the Bengals to start 1-0.
With Joe Burrow at the helm, the Bengals have the better offensive unit, and although the Browns defence is solid, the Bengals have the edge.
Punters get value odds of $1.71 for the visitors.
Betting tip: Bengals @ $1.71
Bengals by 7
3:00am Jacksonville Jaguars vs Indianapolis Colts @ Lucas Oil Stadium
There is a lot of hype for the Jaguars despite struggling for the last few years.
However, there isn’t much going for the Colts, who have a terrible quarterback situation, which will hold them back this season.
Backing the Jaguars with confidence is tough, but we’re including them.
Betting tip: Jaguars –4.5 @ $1.90
Jaguars by 7
3:00am Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Minnesota Vikings @ U.S. Bank Stadium
The Vikings should be far too good for the Buccaneers, who have to get used to life with Tom Brady.
Minnesota usually starts its season off stylishly, and we’re surprised by the –6 line. We thought bookmakers would have the line around –9.5.
Jump on the value line in the opening week.
Betting tip: Vikings -6 @ $1.90
Vikings by 10
3:00am Tennessee Titans vs New Orleans Saints @ Caesars Superdome
The Titans are going under the radar, so we’re prepared to back them as the away underdogs on Monday.
Having Ryan Tannehill and Derrick Henry in the team is a huge asset, and we’re not convinced by the Saints roster.
Getting $2.50 for the Titans is good value, so snap it up.
Betting tip: Titans @ $2.50
Titans by 3
3:00am San Francisco 49ers vs Pittsburgh Steelers @ Acrisure Stadium
We tipped the 49ers to win the Super Bowl, so it’s only natural to back them to win their opening game.
Beating the Pittsburgh Steelers in Pittsburgh isn’t easy, but there are no weak points with San Francisco, which has Brock Purdy and Christian McCaffrey.
Take the –2.5, which is a generous line.
Betting tip: 49ers –2.5 @ $1.90
49ers by 7
3:00am Arizona Cardinals vs Washington Commanders @ FedEx Field
The Cardinals are expected to be the worst team in the NFL, and winning more than one game could be an achievement.
Therefore, despite the Commanders being only a fair team, they should have too many weapons for the visitors.
The –7 line was expected, and they should win by more than a touchdown.
Betting tip: Commanders –7 @ $1.90
Commanders by 10
3:00am Houston Texans vs Baltimore Ravens @ M&T Bank Stadium
The Ravens are the first team posted with a double-figure line, but the –10 is a fair number for the much better team.
Betting on Houston hasn’t been profitable for many years, and there are too many distractions in the team.
Take Lamar Jackson and the Ravens to pile on the points.
Betting tip: Ravens -10 @ $1.90
Ravens by 14
6:25am Green Bay Packers vs Chicago Bears @ Soldier Field
Life without Aaron Rodgers won’t be easy for Green Bay, and the Chicago Bears could pounce in the opening week.
Expectations are low for both teams, but playing at home helps, and Chicago usually plays its best football early in the year.
Take them to win in an even betting market.
Betting tip: Bears @ $1.80
Bears by 4
6:25am Las Vegas Raiders vs Denver Broncos @ Mile High Field
If Russell Wilson and the Broncos don’t start performing, the fan base will start to complain.
Wilson has been average since moving to Denver, but they should be too good for the Raiders, who never play well on the road.
Punters get a –4 line, which is better than expected.
Betting tip: Broncos –4 @ $1.90
Broncos by 7
6:25am Philadelphia Eagles vs New England Patriots @ Gillette Stadium
The Eagles are set to fly, and they’re being tested in the opening week against the Patriots.
It should be a competitive game between the rivals, but we must back the Eagles to win following their Super Bowl appearance.
We’re happy to take the –3.5 line with bookmakers.
Betting tip: Eagles -3.5 @ $1.90
Eagles by 6
6:25am Miami Dolphins vs Los Angeles Chargers @ SoFi Stadium
There won’t be much between the Dolphins and Chargers. Therefore, we’re inclined to take the underdog at $2.35.
The Dolphins have an offence good enough to keep up with Justin Herbert and the Chargers, who are always tough to bet on as favourites.
We’re smelling a minor upset.
Betting tip: Dolphins @ $2.35
Dolphins by 3
6:25am Los Angeles Rams vs Seattle Seahawks @ Lumen Field
Seattle is a team that could surprise, especially in the early weeks, so we’re backing it to win and cover the spread.
The Rams could be in for a long season, and playing the opening game at Lumen Field isn’t going to help.
Take the Seahawks to score a comfortable win.
Betting tip: Seahawks –5.5 @ $1.90
Seahawks by 10
10:20am Dallas Cowboys vs New York Giants @ MetLife Stadium
The hype surrounding the Cowboys is there once again, and it’s hard not to bite.
They take on the Giants, who could struggle to score enough points to keep up with Dak Prescott and the Cowboys.
It’s not an easy game to predict but take the Cowboys to win.
Betting tip: Cowboys @ $1.60
Cowboys by 3
Tuesday 12/9/23
10:15am Buffalo Bills vs New York Jets @ MetLife Stadium
Aaron Rodgers and the Jets start their new campaign, but beating the Buffalo Bills could be a tough ask.
The Bills are one of the better NFL teams, and although the Jets should be improved with Rodgers, we’re unsure if he will be enough.
Punters get $1.70 for the Bills, which is a value price.
Betting tip: Bills @ $1.70
Bills by 6
