NFL Playoffs Wild Card Round Predictions

Sunday 14/1/24
8:30am Cleveland Browns vs Houston Texans @ NRG Stadium
There is a lot of hype around the Cleveland Browns and their defence, which needs to stop a rampaging C.J. Stroud.
Houston has looked good this season and posting a 10-7 record is nowhere near where most critics and bookmakers placed them.
The Texans were warm favourites to finish with the worst record, so we think their winning run isn’t quite over yet.
Also, since when do the Browns win a playoff game? Getting $1.69 odds for the visitors isn’t enticing enough for us.
Betting tip: Texans @ $2.18

12:00pm Miami Dolphins vs Kansas City Chiefs @ GEHA Field
It’s tough to split the Dolphins and Chiefs, but punters get much better odds for the Dolphins.
They might have looked a little average towards the end of the regular season, but Tai Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill could cause havoc.
Hill returns to Kansas City, where he won a Super Bowl with the Chiefs. We expect him to have a big game, and we don’t rate the Chiefs too highly.
If they didn’t have Patrick Mahomes, they could have posted a 6-11 record. Mahomes is a legend, but the team of Miami should have the edge at generous odds.
Betting tip: Dolphins @ $2.70

5:00am Pittsburgh Steelers vs Buffalo Bills @ Highmark Stadium
The Bills roared into playoff contention with an epic surge, and they are hot favourites to beat Pittsburgh on Monday.
The Steelers didn’t look great for most of the year but did enough to make the playoffs when the Jacksonville Jaguars choked.
However, given their form, the Bills should have the edge and the –9.5 line isn’t surprising. They have too many offensive weapons for the Steelers, and playing at home is a huge boost for the Bills’ chances of success.
Betting tip: Bills –9.5 @ $1.90

8:30am Green Bay Packers vs Dallas Cowboys @ AT&T Stadium
The Dallas Cowboys aren’t used to winning at playoff time, but they should be too good for the Packers.
However, we’re not sure if they’re good enough to win by more than a touchdown, which is the current line.
We have been impressed with the Packers, especially Jordan Love at quarterback. He could be the new franchise QB for the Packers, and this could be his coming out party.
Dallas is unbeaten at home but take the Packers to keep it close.
Betting tip: Packers +7.5 @ $1.90
Cowboys by 7
12:00pm Los Angeles Rams vs Detroit Lions @ Ford Field
It has been a great year for the Lions after many years of struggling to make the playoffs.
It would be a shame for them to end the year in the Wildcard round following a 12-5 record, and we’re happy to bet on them.
They are the $1.54 favourites to beat a Rams team that didn’t look great for much of the year but did enough to squeeze out a 10-7 record.
We have respect for Matt Stafford, but Jared Goff has outplayed the man he was traded for, and we think the Lions can win and cover the spread.
Betting tip: Lions –3.5 @ $1.90

Tuesday 16/1/24
12:15pm Philadelphia Eagles vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Raymond James Stadium
The Philadelphia Eagles limped into the playoffs despite starting the year with a 10-1 record.
They have been awful, and having played in the Super Bowl last year might be catching up to them.
It’s disappointing to see, but looking to take advantage are the Buccaneers, who have been led by a resurgent Baker Mayfield.
They might have a 9-8 record, but the Buccaneers are playing much better than Philadelphia, and getting home field advantage is big.
Take the $2.32 odds available for the home side.
Betting tip: Buccaneers @ $2.32
