Doncaster Mile Form Guide & Tips
(1) Think About It ($18.00)
He hasn’t been at his best this preparation, but he’s still an 11-time winner from 15 starts.
Four of those wins have come at Randwick, so we’re happy to include him at the price.
(2) Obamkurumai ($9.50)
He won the Golden Eagle when beating Pericles, but we’re not sure if that will be the best form guide.
He’s a strong Japanese runner, but we’re only including him in first four bets.
(3) Pericles ($41.00)
Only fair this preparation, and we’re not confident enough to include him in selections.
(4) Militarize ($11.00)
He was strong to the line when third last time out, and he’s a nice type in the making.
Drawing barrier four is ideal, and punters get value odds available.
(5) Zougotcha ($19.00)
He has been excellent in two runs back from a spell, and despite drawing wide, he’s still a solid winning chance.
Carrying 53.5kg is ideal, so he’s worth including in selections.
(6) Golden Mile ($67.00)
We liked his improving run last time out, but he’s not running well enough to win the Doncaster Mile.
Getting an inside draw, but that’s where the positives end.
(7) Kovalica ($18.00)
He’s at shorter odds than expected given his last run. We can’t have him in our selections.
(8) Detonator Jack ($16.00)
That was a nice run for third fresh up and he will only get better with more racing.
Getting an inside draw doesn’t suit him as he needs room to warm up.
(9) Berkshire Shadow ($81.00)
Didn’t run well enough last time out to suggest he’s good enough to win the Doncaster Mile.
(10) Rustic Steel ($67.00)
A good win fresh up before finishing well enough last time out. However, he would need to find a few lengths on that effort.
(11) Attractable ($301.00)
Astronomical odds based on his last two starts. Shouldn’t be winning.
(12) Lady Laguna (Best Each Way – $11.00)
Lady Laguna has been excellent this season, including a second placing in a driving finish last time out.
Getting 51kg on her back is all she needs to win the Doncaster.
(13) Democracy Manifest ($21.00)
He returned to winning form last time out, but that’s a level below this race.
(14) Phearson ($201.00)
Didn’t fire last start and drawing barrier 24 hurts.
(15) Loch Eagle ($101.00)
His last three runs haven’t been good enough to figure in the finish.
(16) Lindermann (Best Roughie – $17.00)
It was a walk in the park for Lindermann last time out, and that should be a good form guide.
We’re happy with the generous odds available, and he only needs luck from the draw.
(17) Semana ($26.00)
Carrying 50kg makes her a threat, but because there are so many nice types in this race, we can’t find room for her.
(18) Another Wil (Best Bet – $4.20)
A stellar type in the making, and before the draw, he was a $2.40 chance.
We’re happy with the odds available, providing he finds some cover from out wide. He’s a dynamic type with plenty of upside.
(19) Celestial Legend ($7.00)
Strong wins recently and carrying 49kg could make him a threat. We’re not surprised by the odds available.
(20) Southport Tycoon ($14.00)
Three wins and three placings from seven starts, and he’s another runner with no weight on his back.
A first four chance with natural improvement.
(21) Nugget ($34.00)
A six-time winner from 14 starts over the distance, but most of his best form comes against easier company.
(22) Hinged ($81.00)
Unlikely to run and unlikely to win.
(23) Navajo Peak ($151.00)
He’s not running nearly good enough to feature.
(24) Palmetto ($301.00)
The odds tell the story. No chance of winning.
