NRL Round 3 – Expert Tips & Betting Odds

BILLYS BACK

Round 3 will be a big weekend of footy, with the highly anticipated return of Billy Slater, The Cowboys forward stocks will be tested, with a season ending ACL injury to Matt Scott and the other big question everyone wants to know, are the Knights on their way up and can they two wins in a row.

ROUND 3

Storm $1.57 v Broncos $2.45

The Broncos travel to Melbourne this Thursday night to take on the Storm. The Broncos have named the same team who took on the Cowboys in their agonising Golden Point loss. Melbourne have started their 2017 campaign off Strong winning both of their opening matches. This week sees the return of Billy Slater at Fullback with Cameron Munster moving into the number 6 role. I think the Storm will be too strong against a battered and bruised Broncos line up. Storm by 6

Bulldogs $2.50 V Warriors $1.55

The Warriors got a reality check last weekend against the Storm being thrashed by 16 points. The Bulldogs have lost both of their opening matches by 6 points or less. Questions have been asked this week of their halves pairing Josh Reynolds and Moses Mbye and they no doubt will be fired up for a big game. Bulldogs by 8

Titans $2.70 v Eels $1.48

The Titans are yet to win a game in 2017. Giving the Knights their first win in nearly a year, have they set themselves up early to be top wooden spoon contenders?  The Eels have looked strong in their opening Rounds and surprising to some, are currently competition leaders. With Corey Norman out with a Hamstring injury veteran, Jeff Robson will slot in to the halves with Clint Gutherson. Eels by 12

Knights $2.50 v Rabbitohs $1.55

The Rabbitohs belted the Sea Eagles last weekend by 20 points and looked to have turned their round 1 form around and have adjusted nicely without G.I. The Knights toppled the Titans last weekend by 8 to give themselves their first sniff at the top 8 in over a year. The Knights will have the taste of Victory and will be keen to go back to back. Knights by 2

Panthers $1.90 v Roosters $1.94

The Panthers got flogged in Round 1 by 32 points at the hands of the Dragons. Last weekend they did a full one-eighty and hammered the West Tigers by 34 points. Consistency will be what the Panthers will be looking for moving forward and after a tough defensive performance last weekend keeping the Tigers try-less in 80mins. The Roosters have started off 2017 strong and look to be early Premiership favourites. This game will be close but I think the Rooster will have the upper hand. Roosters by 6

Cowboys $1.26 v Sea Eagles $4.00

The Cowboys remain one of only four teams so far this season to remain undefeated. On both occasions the Cowboys have had to fight hard for their Victories with both matches being decided in golden point. The Cowboys have lost 4 key players from last Friday nights battle against the Broncos. With Matt Scott being ruled out for the season with surgery required on his ACL. Another big name to miss this clash will be lock Jason Taumalolo being found guilty of a Shoulder Charge and will miss 2 games. The Sea Eagles have had a tough start to the year and I think it will get worse before it gets better. Cowboys by 14

Raiders $1.40 v Tigers $3.05

The Tigers have started off 2017 very mediocre to say the least smashing the Rabbitohs in Round 1 by 16 points, to then follow that performance up a week later and did not even manage score a try, with their only points of the match coming from a penalty goal. The Raiders have had a tough start to the season and are still chasing their first win of 2017. The Raiders will welcome back Jarrod Croker and this weekend will also see the return of big Dave Taylor back in the NRL looking for redemption. Raiders by 10

Sharks $1.35 v Dragons $3.30

The Dragons could not back up their fairy-tale performance of Round 1 and went down to the Eels by 18 points. The Sharks have started off the season ok and will look to build on last week’s 26 point win over the Raiders. The Sharks have named a strong extended bench with Valentine Holmes, Tony Williams and Gerrard Beale all looking for selection in the 17. Sharks by 16
