NRL Round 17 – Expert Betting Tips & Odds

nrl-round-17-tips

Thursday night footy returns this week, with the Eels taking on the Bulldogs. Friday night the Storm will do battle with the Broncos and on Sunday we will see the highly anticipated battle of the bottom, with the Tigers playing the Knights. Origin 3 squads will be named after this weekend and there will be some big decisions to be made by both coaches heading into the series decider. All young Queensland halves will be looking to step up and take over the reins from Jonathon Thurston.

ROUND 17

Eels $1.50 v Bulldogs $2.59

The Bulldogs again lost by less than 8 points last week against the Warriors. The Bulldogs started the game slow and went into the second half scoreless. The Bulldogs currently sit 13th on the NRL ladder and have to get things together to push for finals contention. The Eels are entering this match fresh from the bye. The Eels handed the Dragons a 24 – 10 beating last outing, and will look to take this form into round 17. Eels by 10

Titans $1.90 v Dragons $1.90

The Titans will be coming into this game full of confidence after beating the Tigers by 12 points last weekend. The titans got off to a slow start but a double from Jarryd Hayne and Konrad Hurrell secured the Titans victory. The Dragons had a close call against the Knights in a high scoring match. With the Dragons eventually coming away with a 4 points win. The Dragons have a tough couple of weeks and will need a win over the Titans to prove their premiership threat. Dragons by 10

Broncos $2.25 v Storm $1.65

The Broncos 10-point win over the Raiders last week sees them currently sitting in 3rd spot on the premiership table. The Broncos have not had a stable halves pairing since the loss of Anthony Milford, this could cost them moving into the bigger games. The Storm will welcome back the big 3 this weekend and head into this match as strong favourites. I think this game will be tight, but the Storm will come away with the win. Storm by 4

Roosters $1.72 v Sharks $2.13

The Roosters never say die attitude was the difference in their golden point victory over a young Storm side. They trailed up until the final minute scored, converted and then slotted a field goal. The experience of Origin looks to be paying off for the Roosters and we are looking forward to the type of football they’ll produce come finals time. The Sharks looked tired against the Sea Eagles, their origin experience looks to of maybe back fired. Their play makers and forwards failed to fire and eventually went down by 17 points. I think the Roosters will be too good in this match up and will win by a small margin. Roosters by 6

Sea Eagles $1.47 v Warriors $2.71

The Warriors beat the Bulldogs in Friday night footy by 7 points. They are looking to turn their season around and play smart footy and signs of this are showing. This weekend will be a tough challenge for them as the Sea Eagles are entering this match on fire. Their 17-point victory over the Sharks last Sunday now sees them sitting in 4th place on the NRL Ladder. Daly Cherry-Evans is set to fire once more this weekend making his claim to the Queensland selectors for a State of Origin call up.   Sea Eagles by 12

Raiders $1.54 v Cowboys $2.48

The Raiders started red hot against the Broncos last weekend though failed to control the play towards the back of the game. The Raiders will be working hard on their defence this week which let 30 points past their line. The Cowboys just snuck home over a determined Panthers outfit taking a 2-point win. The Cowboys will be without JT for the rest of the year and will look to their youngsters to guide them. I think the Raiders will have the upper hand in this match. Raiders by 8

Knights $1.80 v Tigers $2.00

The Battle of the bottom. One of the most anticipated games of the Round. The Tigers currently sit last thanks to for and against. Both Sides will be looking to step things up this weekend to keep away from the much dreaded wooden spoon. The Knights came close to victory in their match against the Dragons, but in the end went down by 4 points. The loss was a little more convincing to the Titans. It is fair to say both teams have been equally as bad as each other this year, though after their display against the Dragons I think the Knights will take the win. Knights by 8

Rabbitohs $2.36 v Panthers $1.60

The Rabbitohs enter this match after an extended break. In their last match they flogged the Titans 36 – 20 and really found form in the second half scoring 26 points to nil. Exciting times lay ahead for the Rabbitohs as young forward Angus Crichton finds his feet in first grade and their more experienced players step up to compliment his form. The Panthers painstakingly lost by 2 points against the Cowboys last weekend. They started strong but could find the win. I think this game will be a tough one as two big forward packs do battle. Panthers by 6
