2017/18 NFL Week 4 Betting Picks & Odds

nfl week 4 betting picks 2017

There are only two unbeaten teams left in the NFL this season – the Kansas City Chiefs and the Atlanta Falcons.

Week 4 kicks off with an NFC North divisional showdown between the Packers and Bears, which should set us up for another wild weekend in the NFL.

It ends with a mouthwatering clash between the Chiefs and the Redskins, which are both coming off complete performances last week.

Friday 29/09/17

10:30am Green Bay Packers vs. Chicago Bears

We knew the Packers would be firm favourites against the Bears, but the points spread line is closer than we anticipated.

The Packers opened at –7 and have moved out to –7.5 favourites. That’s more of a realistic line for a team coming off a stunning comeback victory against the Bengals.

The Bears looked good when beating the Steelers last week, but they have a horrible history against Aaron Rodgers and the Packers (4-15) and that’s unlikely to change this Friday.

Betting tip: Packers –7.5 @ $2.03 – (BET NOW)

12:30am Miami Dolphins vs. New Orleans Saints

London gets another game this week which pits a high-powered offense in the Saints against the well-rounded Dolphins.

The Saints got their season back on track with a demolition of the Carolina Panthers last week and Drew Brees looked like the Drew Brees of old.

The Dolphins looked good in the opening round when beating the Chargers, but the loss to the Jets was poor and they will need to score more than six points to beat this Saints team.

The neutral venue might help the Dolphins, but there is much better value with the Saints in this position.

Betting tip: Saints -2.5 @ $1.80 (BET NOW)

4:00am Atlanta Falcons vs. Buffalo Bills

The Atlanta Falcons should feel lucky to come away with the win against the Lions last week, but they’re facing easier opposition here.

Atlanta survived a late touchdown from the Lions which was overturned in the final seconds of the game – resulting in a clock run off and a Falcons win.

Coming up against the Bills will be easier, but the Bills were in top shape when beating the Broncos 26-16 last week and they should have plenty of confidence now.

The Bills are tough on defense, but they’ll have to be to keep the Falcons from running riot.

Betting tip: Falcons 1-13 @ $2.08 (BET NOW)

4:00am Cleveland Browns vs. Cincinnati Bengals

This won’t be the most exciting game this week as two winless teams face off.

The Browns have shown signs of improvement this year after a dismal 2016/2017 season and the quarterback play of former Notre Dame alumni DeShone Kizer has been solid.

Bengals fans will feel hard done by this season as they should have won two of their three games, but they’re missing that key spark from Andy Dalton.

Bookmakers are giving the Browns points at home and that’s too good to pass up, but we wouldn’t go crazy betting this game.

Betting tip: Browns +3.5 @ $1.83 (BET NOW)

Browns by 2

4.00am Dallas Cowboys vs. L.A Rams

The Rams enter enemy territory with wins over the 49ers and Colts, but form would indicate that those wins aren’t worth much.

They won a wild game against the 49ers 41-39, but the defense was average and it will need to be much better if they’re going to hold out Dak Prescott and the Cowboys.

Coming off a win against Arizona on prime time, the Cowboys are expected to have a letdown in this game, but we can’t see the Cowboys getting tested by this Rams team.

Bookmakers are giving punters a great line here.

Betting tip: Cowboys –6.5 @ $1.90 (BET NOW)

4:00am Minnesota Vikings vs. Detroit Lions

This is going to be one of the closest games of the weekend, so much so the bookmakers haven’t released their lines yet.

The Vikings are coming off a strong win over the Buccaneers and their only loss this season came to the Steelers.

Detroit Lions fans would have been angry about last week’s game, but the players will be wanting to make up for that this week and that spells danger for the Vikings.

The Lions had defeated the Cardinals and Giants before taking on the Falcons and arguably they should be the unbeaten form team of the competition.

Playing away from home is tough, but the Lions are a good side this season and bookmakers should have them as slight favourites.

Lions by 4 (BET NOW)

4:00am New England Patriots vs. Carolina Panthers

It all came unstuck for the Panthers last week when suffering a big loss to the Saints and quarterback Cam Newton was put onto the injury report – listed as questionable for this game.

That will sit well with the Patriots who have struggled this season, but find themselves in a good position at 2-1 after coming from behind to beat the Texans with a last-minute Hail Mary down the field.

Tom Brady is playing within himself, but still has the qualities of an MVP quarterback. Along with a good offensive line, Brady is getting time in the pocket to throw downfield and it’s hard to see a beat-up Panthers side getting close this week.

Betting tip: Patriots –9 @ $1.92 (BET NOW)

Patriots by 14

4:00am New York Jets vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jets may have saved their coach when winning last week against the Dolphins.

The 20-6 win got them back on track at 1-2 and this is a winnable game against the Jaguars, which have never travelled very well.

The Jaguars blew the Ravens off the park with a 44-7 victory in London, but trusting the Jaguars in consecutive weeks has always been tough.

We wouldn’t rule out the Jets at home on Monday morning, but the momentum seems to be with the better offense and that’s why the Jags.

Betting tip: Jaguars –3.5 @ $2.05 (BET NOW)

Jaguars by 10

4:00am Baltimore Ravens vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

The arch-rivals take on each other here and both teams are needing a bounce back performance.

The Ravens won’t be wanting to head back to England after getting trounced by the Jaguars and the Steelers suffered an embarrassing loss to the Bears.

This match-up is always a close game which is typically defensive-minded. Both teams will need to sharpen up on both sides of the ball and bookmakers have the line right at 3.

Which team will bounce back best to progress to 3-1 is the big question.

Betting tip: Steelers –3 @ $1.94 (BET NOW)

Steelers by 7

4:00am Houston Texans vs. Tennessee Titans

The Texans season could have been completely different if they had held on against the Patriots last week, but the 33-36 loss could come back to haunt them.

DeShaun Watson has been solid at the quarterback position without being amazing. He has thrown for three touchdowns and three interceptions, but he has plenty of quality receivers to throw to.

The Titans have the more experience quarterback with Marcus Mariota and they’re coming off a tough win against Seattle. Beating the Seahawks is never easy and beating that defense will give them confidence.

The Texans defense is on par with Seattle’s, so on that basis we have to go with the Titans.

Betting tip: Titans –1.5 @ $1.90 (BET NOW)

Titans by 10

6:05am Arizona Cardinals vs. San Francisco 49ers

The Cardinals looked capable of beating the Dallas Cowboys on Tuesday, but the offensive line couldn’t hold up against the strong Cowboys defense.

That shouldn’t be an issue this week against the 49ers which don’t know what defense is. The 49ers have given up plenty of points this season already and it would take a drastic turnaround to see them upsetting the Cardinals away from home.

The Cards are a playoff-bound team and an easy victory is likely.

Betting tip: Cardinals –6.5 @ 1.87 (BET NOW)

Cardinals by 17

6:05am L.A Chargers vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Expectations for the Chargers this year weren’t very high, but starting 0-3 isn’t going to help the fan base.

In their defense, they have played three tough teams and they had chances to win all three. The lack of clutch play is the worry as they come up against a high-scoring Eagles side.

The Eagles have beaten tough teams in the Giants and Redskins and have lost against the Chiefs 20-27. That loss was a close-run thing and that should give them confidence moving forward.

The Eagles are in enemy territory, but they’re getting points in this situation and that’s too good to pass up.

Betting tip: Eagles to win @ $2.08 (BET NOW)

Eagles by 6

6:05am Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. New York Giants

It’s now or never for the Giants which sit at 0-3 for the season despite high expectations at the start of the season.

There was improvement last week against the Eagles where Odell Beckham Jnr showed why he’s an elite wide receiver and coming up against the Buccs shouldn’t be any harder.

The Buccaneers lost to the Vikings 17-34 in what was a poor performance. With a number of players in the disabled list, the Buccs might struggle in consecutive weeks here.

The Giants are getting points on the road and that’s where the value is.

Betting tip: Giants +3 @ $1.90 (BET NOW)

Giants by 3

6:25am Denver Broncos vs. Oakland Raiders

This should be a physical affair with two teams looking to bounce back after losses.

The Broncos lost to the Bills in a game they were tipped to win and the Raiders were outclassed against the Redskins.

Oakland looked especially poor and not one player stood out as having a good game. Coach Jack del Rio wouldn’t have been happy with that performance and punters should expect a better turn up this week.

That won’t be easy against the Broncos which destroyed Dallas the week prior and are tough to beat at home.

The momentum might belong with the Broncos here.

Betting tip: Broncos to win @ $1.65 (BET NOW)

Broncos by 3

11:30am Seattle Seahawks vs. Indianapolis Colts

Both teams sit at 1-2 after an indifferent season, but the Seahawks are heavily-favoured to win this game.

The Seahawks have beaten only the 49ers by three points this season, but the shackles must break loose soon enough and punters are expecting that to happen.

Facing the Colts is the perfect opportunity for the Seahawks to show their real ability and this game could get messy for the Colts very early in the game.

Seattle’s defense should have a field day.

Betting tip: Seahawks –13 @ $1.90 (BET NOW)

Seahawks by 24

Tuesday 3/10/17

11:30am Kansas City Chiefs vs. Washington Redskins

They saved the best game for last as the unbeaten Chiefs take on the Redskins.

The Chiefs have looked like a Super Bowl contender this season, but there were some worrying signs last week when beating the Chargers. They didn’t look slick for the most part of the game and it took turnovers for the Chiefs to establish a lead.

Point scoring will need to be more efficient against the Redskins which is coming off a perfect performance against Oakland.

They gave the Raiders no chance and if they can replicate that performance it could be a long night for Chiefs fans.

Betting tip: Redskins +7 @ $1.92 (BET NOW)

Redskins by 1
