2017/2018 NFL SuperBowl Winner
SuperBowl Best Bet:
It’s rare for NFL teams to win back-to-back championships in this day and age, but we can’t overlook the mighty New England Patriots this season.
The Boston-located franchise pulled off one of the biggest Super Bowl comeback wins in history last season when coming back from 25 points down against the Atlanta Falcons and it should continue to roll on from that momentum.
Champion quarterback Tom Brady might be 40 years old, but he’s in some of the best form of his career and even if he does come under an injury cloud, backup quarterbacks Jacoby Brissett and Jimmy Garoppolo are more than capable of leading the team.
The Patriots are the only team at single figure odds, which is supremely rare for the NFL as it’s widely considered to be an even league.
With players such as running backs Brandon Bolden and Dion Lewis, wide receivers Danny Amendola and Julian Edelman and tight end Rob Gronkowski, the Patriots have a stacked team and many defenses will have a tough task to slow their offense down.
The $5 at Sportsbet is a fair price and if you’re a Tom Brady fan – let’s be honest, who isn’t? – then you can get $1.85 if he throws over 34.5 touchdown passes during the regular season.
He threw 28 touchdowns last season after missing the first four games, so we’re confident he can hit this prop bet.
SuperBowl Value Bet:
There’s plenty to like about the Seattle Seahawks this season and they will enjoy playing in the NFC West.
The NFC West is one of the weakest divisions in the NFL with the Rams, 49ers and Cardinals making up the other three squads.
Those are three teams the Seattle Seahawks will play frequently throughout the season and they should hold the advantage every time.
This bodes well for the Seahawks which is trying to get back to the Super Bowl after losing in dramatic fashion to the New England Patriots in 2015.
They didn’t have a season in 2016/2017, but some off-season signings have made this formidable home side even more daunting.
Seattle have great depth at the quarterback role which features starting QB Russell Wilson and backup quarterbacks Austin Davis, Jake Heaps and the talented Trevone Boykin.
Former Green Bay Packer Eddie Lacy will be a force at the running back position if his fitness is in order and wide receivers Doug Baldwin and Jermaine Kearse will give Wilson plenty of throwing targets.
Seattle have made the playoffs with a 7-9 record in the past and that shows the strength of its division. The Seahawks should stroll through into the playoffs and be a force to be reckoned with.
$26 for the Carolina Panthers is a great price from bookmakers and one definitely worth considering.
Many critics are saying that the Panthers are over the hill and quarterback Cam Newton can’t run anymore, but when you draft star college running back Christian McCaffery in the first round, that problem solves itself.
McCaffery is going to have a stellar and lengthy career in the NFL and his running prowess will take the pressure firmly off Newton’s shoulders.
There is concern that Newton doesn’t have any star wide receivers to throw to, but neither did Tom Brady for many seasons and a player of moderate talent can catch a ball.
The real test for the Panthers will be in round 4 when they face the Patriots, but there are winnable games prior to that and they could open the season 3-0. That would see the $26 shorten to around $16 and punters should snap up the value whilst it’s available.
Regular season MVP tips
Tom Brady is the current $5.50 favourite (BET NOW at Sportsbet) which is to be expected and it would take a brave punter to back against him, but strong money is coming for fellow QB’s Aaron Rodgers and Derek Carr.
Derek Carr is a solid pick at $10 (BET NOW at Sportsbet) considering he’s about the only star player in the Oakland Raiders team and the light shines brightly on him.
He had a great season before getting injured just before the playoffs, but we’re confident Carr represents good value.
Our other pick is a surprising one, but we believe wide receiver Julio Jones at $67 (BET NOW at Sportsbet) can produce his best season yet.
The Falcons star has had an injury-plagued career to date, but he could have been one of the best receivers we’ve ever seen and there’s still time.
He has Matt “Ice” Ryan throwing to him and conditions inside the Atlanta Dome make it great for hauling in the deep passes.
It’s not common for a receiver to win the MVP award, but it’s always time for a change and he’s paying great odds and is definitely worth a small play.
Next Head Coach fired betting
This is a great prop bet opportunity, albeit at the expensive of someone’s job.
Teams that get off to poor starts often look for a coaching change and there’s one coach in the firing line already this season.
New York Jets head coach Todd Bowles hasn’t had the best of careers at the helm of the franchise and Jets fans are pretty quick to demand a change.
Bowles is currently $5 (BET NOW at Sportsbet) to be the first coach replaced this season and we think that’s highly likely.
