2017/18 NBL Round 14 Expert Betting Tips

nbl round 14 2017-18 betting tips

The top four teams have separated themselves in this season’s NBL and there’s a three-way tie for first.

Perth, Melbourne and New Zealand all share the top spot in the win column, but it’s the Wildcats which have the advantage currently.

Two of those teams face off this week when the Wildcats take on United and there’s also great action with the Breakers playing the desperate Hawks.

Thursday 11/1/18

7:30pm Adelaide 36ers vs. Cairns Taipans @ Titanium Security Arena

Adelaide climbed to only one win outside of the top four with its win against the Brisbane Bullets last week.

The 36ers scored a convincing 95-84 win over the Queensland outfit, but they’re facing a side which was also able to beat the Bullets last week.

Taipan’s fans were happy to see a return in form for the side which has slipped well and truly out of a playoff position. That win would have instilled some confidence in the Taipans, but they’ll need it up against the in-form 36ers.

Bookmakers have the line set at 6.5 and that’s what we predicted. There is value with the visiting team, despite there being some negatives.

9:30pm Perth Wildcats vs. Melbourne United @ Perth Arena

This is the game most NBL fans have been waiting for and the win will see one of these teams take control of the ladder.

Both Perth and Melbourne wouldn’t have been thrilled with their victories last week. Perth scraped by the Sydney Kings and Melbourne were less than impressive against the Hawks.

Perth are tough to beat at home and that’s why bookmakers have them as the firm favourites. We would have to agree with the odds as United, whilst they’re a complete team on paper, don’t always produce on the court.

The better team on the court is the Perth Wildcats and we think this will be an exciting game which goes in their favour.

Betting tip: Wildcats to win @ $1.50 (BET NOW)

5:30pm Sydney Kings vs. Adelaide 36ers @ Qudos Bank Arena

The Kings have officially let players go as their playoffs hope are gone, which bodes well for the 36ers this week.

Regardless of whether the 36ers win their Thursday game or not, they should be too good for the struggling Kings.

Jerome Randle has been unable to get the wins on the board despite playing well since joining the team and considering the 36ers are in playoff contention, this should be an easy victory for the visiting side.

Betting tip: 36ers to win @ $1.64 (BET NOW)

7:30pm Illawarra Hawks vs. New Zealand Breakers @ WIN Entertainment Centre

The Hawks didn’t do their slight chances of making the playoffs any good when losing to United last week, but positives can be taken from the two-point loss.

They limited a heavy scoring United team to only 79 points and despite scoring only 77, that bodes well when facing the Breakers this week.

Travel hasn’t worried the Breakers this season and they were able to get their confidence back by dealing to the Taipans last week.

Now sitting on 11 wins for the season, the Breakers will look to march for a top two playoff position and beating the Hawks on Saturday night will go a long way to achieving that goal.

This is going to be a close game as bookmakers have predicted, but we’ll give the edge to the Breakers.

Betting tip: Breakers to win @ $2.10 (BET NOW)

Sunday 14/1/18

3:00pm Brisbane Bullets vs. Perth Wildcats @ Brisbane Convention Centre

The Bullets are fighting to stave off Sydney for the wooden spoon and consecutive losses last week didn’t help their cause.

On face value the Bullets have a good side, but the confidence is low and the play from Travis Trice isn’t what was expected at this stage of the season.

Playing the Wildcats isn’t going to help their situation, but the Wildcats have struggled away from home this season and that gives the Bullets some hope.

Perth has lost on the second game of a double header earlier in the season and despite having the edge in most facets, we’re picking the upset.

Betting tip: Bullets +4.5 @ $1.88 (BET NOW)

Bullets by 1
