October 7, 2017 – Saturday Horse Racing Tips For Flemington

october 7 saturday flemington horse racing tips

It’s another big Saturday of racing in Australia as Flemington hosts Australia’s best thoroughbred Winx for the first time.

The Chris Waller-trained champion is running in the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes which has attracted a poor field, so it looks highly likely that Winx will continue her winning streak.

Flemington hosts some quality stakes racing action this Saturday which also includes The Bart Cummings, Edward Manifold Stakes and a host of other top-class races.

Flemington free tips & form

Race 3. (14:05) UCI Stakes (1800m)

#4 – Sunquest @ $9 – BET NOW

Doesn’t deserve to be so long in the market after almost winning an identical race last time to the races.

The Steve Richards-trained three-year-old colt finished off strongly behind Cliff’s Edge at Caulfield last start and the slightly longer trip here is going to suit Sunquest perfectly.

It might still be a maiden runner, but it’s one of the better maidens running in Australia and the son of Helmut just needs things to go its way.

He was blocked for a run last start otherwise he would have won and the $9 makes him worth the risk.

Race 4. (14:40) Gilgai Stakes (1200m)

#4 – Spieth @ $2.60 – BET NOW

Spieth is a lethal sprinter on its day and it won’t get a better opportunity to score the elusive win here.

The Bryce Heys-trained runner is a five-time winner, but it has been a long time between drinks. That’s not to say he hasn’t been running good races because he’s finished second in the Darley Classic, second in the Lightning Stakes and second in the Concorde Stakes since then.

That’s top-quality form and any form behind the likes of Chautauqua, Malaguerra and Redzel is going to cut it at this level.

Silent Sedition is the biggest danger, but Spieth is better suited down the Flemington straight and he will be hitting the line with power.

Race 6. (15:50) Edward Manifold Stakes (1600m)

#3– Anchor Bid to place @ $2.50 – BET NOW

We were left a bit deflated after Anchor Bid’s most recent performance when she finished sixth in a winnable race, but we’ll allow her another chance.

Her form prior to that defeat was top class. She won consecutive races by a combined margin of three lengths and her form before that came behind Royal Symphony.

The rise to 1800m might have left her a touch flat last start and she should have the class to recover and be competitive in this field.

Bookmakers are offering a handy place price so take that for some insurance.

Race 7. (16:30) The Bart Cummings (2500m)

#1 – Almandin @ $2 – BET NOW

2016 Melbourne Cup winner Almandin is set for another big spring after scoring a superb victory at Flemington last start.

The quality stayer took the inside running and burst clear for a 2.75-length win hard-held to the line. That victory got bookmakers firming its Melbourne Cup odds and he could continue to win this preparation without much worry.

The eight-year-old German import stays at the 2500m for this and he’s vying to win back-to-back Bart Cummings after winning by 1.5 lengths last start.

There has been some money for Harlem, but Almandin doesn’t mind carrying big weights and he’s the class stayer running in Australia at the moment.

Race 8. (17:10) Blazer Stakes (1400m)

#9 – Missrock @ $5 – BET NOW

Missrock is a consistent type which always puts in a good effort.

The Robbie Laing-trained four-year-old won at Moonee Valley earlier this preparation when beating the classy Heatherly and she has since run close in behind the likes of Russian Revolution and Savanna Amour.

That’s top form for this and she returns to a track where she has won and placed twice from five starts. Flemington is the ideal track for her now as she likes to get warm during the run and make a big sprint late.

She has won over $1 million in stake money and she could add to that here.
