The Melbourne Cup carnival kicks off this Saturday with the $3 million Caulfield Cup and we have tips across the entire card.

Australia’s best stayers line up for the time-honoured prize and punters not only get to see the best local chances, but also the best stayers from New Zealand and Europe.

It’s a great betting card at Caulfield and there’s also a bumper card of nine races at Randwick for punters to enjoy.

Caulfield free tips & form

Race 1. (12:15) Resimax Group Plate (1400m)

#6  – Our Crown Mistress @ $2.70 – BET NOW

The Waterhouse/Bott team line up Our Crown Mistress which has won her last two starts impressively.

The three-year-old filly was a good maiden winner at Sale in September before rising up in grade and scoring a 4.25-length win at Geelong.

That win had plenty of merit and she showed a torrent of early speed before kicking strongly in the straight. Winning from in front is key at Caulfield and she looks a good bet to get punters off to a good start on Cup day.

Race 3. (13:25) Ethereal Stakes (2000m)

#1 – One More Honey @ $5.50 – BET NOW

Steady money has come for One More Honey throughout the week.

The John Thompson-trained filly has form around some quality types this campaign, including a fourth behind Blue Sapphire Stakes winner Formality and Flight Stakes winner Alizee.

She has looked like a natural middle-distance type throughout the season and she finally gets her chance to rise in distance.

Drawing the inside barrier will ensure she gets a soft run in transit and with many of the favoured runners drawing wide, she will be able to save her energy and strike late.

Race 4. (14:00) Ladbrokes Classic (2000m)

#7 – Tavistock Abbey to place @ $2 – BET NOW

Tavistock Abbey is bred to enjoy running over longer distances and the son of Tavistock looks a good place bet option here.

The Anthony Freedman-trained three-year-old has scored back-to-back wins coming into this and he scored a narrow win over race-rival Main Stage last start.

Main Stage is shorter in the market and Tavistock Abbey, so punters are getting better value for the talented gelding.

The $5.50 for the win is enticing, but this is an even field and there’s better value taking the safer option.

Race 7. (15:45) Harrold’s Caulfield Sprint (1000m)

#8 – Snitty Kitty @ $4 – BET NOW

Snitty Kitty showed why she’s a lethal sprinter last start and we’re expecting a similar effort.

The Henry Dwyer-trained four-year-old was quick out of the gates at Caulfield when beating a quality mares field by over a length.

She faces a harder task here, but she has won three of her four starts at this distance and she has never missed a win or placing at Caulfield.

Her gate speed is her biggest asset and she rarely gets tired towards the end of her races. They will have to chase her for the entire 1000m and she could simply be too brilliant for most of these.

Race 8. (16:30) Caulfield Cup (2400m)

Race 9. (17:10) Schweppes Tristarc Stakes (1400m)

#1 – Foxplay @ $4.60 – BET NOW

Chris Waller lines up Foxplay, which has been game behind some of Australia’s best thoroughbreds this season.

The four-year-old mare finished a short margin behind champion mare Winx in the Warwick Stakes before running third behind Winx in the George Main.

She then ran fourth in the Epsom Handicap behind Happy Clapper, but the conditions of this race suit much better and she should take advantage.

She does rise in weight which is the concern, but there are no superstars in this field and punters won’t get $4.60 for Foxplay very often.
