october 20 friday packenham horse racing tips

Pakenham joins in the night racing circuit this week with an eight-race betting card.

Pakenham hasn’t long been racing at night, but it has proven to be a success when Moonee Valley and Cranbourne aren’t hosting meetings.

Punters will find good-sized betting fields this Friday night and we’ve sorted through the form to find our best tips across the course of the night.

All odds are with Sportsbet – our No. 1 rated bookmaker. New signups can claim a $501* bonus bet with Sportsbet by clicking HERE.

Packenham free tips & form

Race 2. (19:00) 9 Mile Maiden Plate (1400m)

#10  – Argentinian Gold @ $10 – BET NOW

Mick Price lines up Argentinian Gold which has had two starts for one placing.

The three-year-old filly finished third on debut at Ballarat where she ran five lengths from subsequent last start winner Snitzepeg.

She wasn’t able to continue that form when running ninth on this track last start, but both runs came on a heavy track and the firmer surface is going to help her here.

Her recent effort at a trial was solid at Cranbourne and she’s paying nice each way odds in this.

Race 3. (19:30) Red Gem Packers Maiden (1200m)

#2 – Amastryker @ $4.20 – BET NOW

Having race day experience could be key in this and Amastryker has had three starts to date.

The Matt Laurie-trained three-year-old finished only a nose behind the winner on debut at Mornington and she was then thrown in the deep end at Flemington.

She was no match for Booker on that occasion, but she dropped back to a more respectable grade last start where she ran third.

She ran a quick 1000m time which bodes well for this and she could provide punters with some handy early value on the card.

Race 5. (20:30) Schreurs & Sons Handicap (1200m)

#8 – Bugari @ $2.90 – BET NOW

The three-year-old gelding was a stellar winner on debut at Sunshine Coast and that form could stack up well in Victoria.

Chris Meaghar trains the son of Captain Sonador, which isn’t bred to be a superstar, but its upset win on debut at odds of $31 was impressive.

Bookmakers are treating that win with respect which is what punters want to see and it instils confidence heading into Friday’s run.

The late betting movement could be a good guide to this race, but Bugari looks to have most of these covered.

Race 6. (21:00) O’Connor Porterhouse Handicap (1600m)

#4 – Exflytations @ $3.60 – BET NOW

Exflytations is nearing a win after going close at her last two starts.

Trained by Mick Price, the well-bred daughter of Exceed and Excel ran third at this track in September behind Swiss Moments and its subsequent run since waseven better.

She stepped up in grade and finishes second behind That Rings a Bell at Bendigo and that form is going to be good for this.

The drop in grade is countered by a bigger weight, but she has carried big weights and performed well in the past.

There’s a lack of winning form in this race and she looks overdue for the big victory.

Race 7. (21:30) Spendthrift Handicap (1400m)

#7 – Maximus @ $4.60 – BET NOW

Maximus looks like a nice up-and-coming type which scored a quality win last start.

The Mick Sell-trained entire finished second on debut, but quickly improved to score by 1.25 lengths over Rock ’em Sock ’em which runs earlier in the day and could be a good form guide for this.

The four-year-old sprinted well late in the race last start which is always a good sign of things to come and the extra distance looks ideal for this.

Little Bita Spunk looks the hardest to beat, but it can’t seem to win a race and Maximus brings in plenty of confidence to this.

Race 8. (22:00) R70 Handicap (1700m)

#3 – Rampage – BET NOW

Lindsay Park Racing lines up Rampage which has won two of his 12 starts to date with another five placings.

The son of All American was a winner at Wangaratta in March before it took the winter months off. Upon returning, it finished second at Geelong – only a nose behind the winner.

He didn’t handle the heavy track at Cranbourne second up, but he returned to his best form when running second at Geelong last start.

Drawing wide in barrier 13 won’t help his chances here, but Ethan Brown takes 1.5kg off his back and he’s a solid each way chance to close the card.
