It’s been an incredible spring carnival season to date with The Everest going off with a bang in Sydney last Saturday.
The premier racing also continued in Melbourne with four group one races and the premier action continues this Wednesday with the $350,000 Blue Sapphire Stakes at Caulfield.
Some of Australia’s best three-year-olds are in action and punters should be in for a good day on the punt at both Caulfield and at Canterbury, which hosts a quality eight-race race.

Caulfield Farm free tips & form
Race 1. (13:30) You’re In The Game Handicap (2400m)
Chris Waller lines up this talented former New Zealand stayer which looked good winning consecutive races earlier this year.
The five-year-old won by over three lengths at Canterbury before winning by 1.3 lengths at Randwick. That form took a bit of a tumble having finished second at his last two starts, but there was merit in both runs.
He finished second behind stablemate Alward on both occasions, but not everything went to plan during the run and this race looks suitable.
He opened shorter in the market and even money is a good price.
Race 3. (14:35) Alannah Hill Plate (1600m)
This is a tricky field, but Villermont has a solid win under his belt and plenty of betting support from the public.
The three-year-old finished third on debut at Sandown behind the talented Wassergeist before starting as the $1.70 chance at Ballarat.
The well-bred son of All Too Hard didn’t find it all too hard, winning by 5.25 lengths over a decent maiden field. That win is held in high regards and despite facing a talented field of three-year-olds on this occasion, he looks ready for the challenge.
Race 4. (15:10) R84 Handicap (1400m)
Steel Frost is in the form of its life and it’s hard not to recommend at his current odds.
The Will Clarken-trained five-year-old has won his last three starts, taking his career record to 11 starts for six wins.
His latest win at Caulfield was of top quality as he had to do plenty of work during the run and he still finished off best down the outside.
Since finishing 11th in the Country Championship Final at Randwick in April, Steel Frost has been on a tear in Adelaide and Melbourne, which bodes well for this upcoming run.
Current favourite Bryneich might have some handy performances to its name, but Steel Frost is a proven winner and our top pick.
Race 5. (15:45) Ladies Day Vase (1600m)
It’s not easy to have won only two races and have earned almost $1.5 million, but that’s Flying Jess.
The four-year-old mare saves her best performances for the big time, including the Magic Millions, and she produced a wonderful effort last time to the races.
She ran second in the Stocks Stakes behind I Am a Star, which is great form and she continues to fly under the radar this campaign.
Bookmakers have had her at odds of $81, $26 and $18 her last two starts, in which she has finished second in two of them.
That’s strong form for this and punters are getting a value price.
Race 6. (16:25) Blue Sapphire Stakes (1200m)
Crown Witness is the unknown of this field, but she has the excitement level increasing with every start.
The Stuart Webb-trained filly is unbeaten from three starts and that includes a significant win against top filly and Blue Diamond winner Catchy.
That form has stood up well this campaign with Catchy running third in the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas on Saturday and that’s strong form for this race.
She has the ability to run quick times and she’ll be able to use the inside barrier to her advantage. She likes to sit on the pace and she could prove tough to get past over the concluding stages down the Caulfield straight.
Race 8. (17:45) Thebigscreencompany Handicap (1700m)
Anaheim was a quality winner at Caulfield in September and his run last start shouldn’t be overlooked.
The former New Zealand stayer won by a half-length to starts back before running sixth in the Benalla Cup behind subsequent winner Lord Fandango.
That form line should be one of the better Cups form lines this spring and Anaheim has the ability to string good runs together.
He was good enough to compete in the major age-group staying races in Australia and his finish in the SA Derby was a credible performance.
He’s always a good betting proposition at each way odds and that doesn’t change here.

Race 3. (14:25) McGrath Estate Agents Handicap (1550m)
Chris Waller hasn’t yet worked his magic with this four-year-old, but the time looks about right to change that.
The former country-trained runner came to Waller with a perfect three-from-three record and it has since run two nice races to place in town.
The daughter of Choisir finished 3.3 lengths behind Perizada at Warwick Farm before running third behind the well-fancied Philosophy last start.
This looks like a nice race for her and she gets in well on the weights at 55.5kg and she jumps from a nice barrier of three.
Race 4. (15:00) McGrath Estate Agents Handicap (1550m)
Unbeaten four-year-old Stonebrook has had his fair share of supporters to date and that looks to continue this Wednesday.
The Waterhouse/Bott-trained gelding won by 1.3 lengths over the highly-touted Marsupial last start and that win came from in front, which should suit him here again.
It won’t be easier here from a tricky draw of nine and a hefty weight on his back, but there are no last start winners in this field and he has a few more wins in store this campaign if his form holds.
Race 7. (16:50) Theraces Handicap (1250m)
Osborne Bulls lost no admirers when running second behind Invincibella last start, given that she has since won at stakes level.
The James Cummings-trained speedster won his first two starts in impressive fashion and he was unlucky not to win last start after getting slightly too far back in the run.
Dropping back in distance with a heavy weight is a negative, but he’s a talented type in the making and it’s not surprising to see some early support come for him.
