Moonee Valley free tips & form

Race 3. (19:30) 1Print Handicap (1000m)

#1 – Nature Strip @ $1.70 – BET NOW

We start the Moonee Valley with a short-priced favourite, but the odds are warranted.

The Robert Smerdon-trained three-year-old gelding won on debut at Mornington in a good time before running second behind Sam’s Image on this track.

He arguably should have won that race after getting back and wide throughout and he has drawn to feature prominently again.

Carrying the big weight is the query, but that shouldn’t matter over this short-course distance.

Race 4. (20:00) Excellence in Baking Handicap (1000m)

#8 – Sprightly Lass @ $3.10 – BET NOW

Looking to remain unbeaten after three starts is Sprightly Lass.

The Hawkes-trained four-year-old was a debut winner at Hawkesbury before scoring a quality win at Gosford last time out.

The daughter of Snitzel looks to have plenty of raw ability and there’s plenty of confidence in the market, having been backed in from $3.70 earlier in the week.

Drawing barrier 11 is going to make it tough, but she just needs some early luck to figure in the finish.

Race 5. (20:30) 55 Second Challenge (955m)

#2 – Danuki @ $5 – BET NOW

Danuki can’t seem to win a race, but he’s nearing one after two quality placings.

The Clinton McDonald-trained five-year-old finished second at Cranbourne before running second behind Gun Case on this track last month.

That was a top performance behind a quality thoroughbred and after four placings from five starts at Moonee Valley, it’s about time Danuki got a piece of the action and the odds are appealing.

Race 7. (21:30) Proper National Pies Handicap (2040m)

#6 – Serenade the Stars @ $3.80 – BET NOW

Imported runner Serenade the Stars was a gutsy winner at Bendigo last start and he showed just how strong European form is.

The son of Sea the Stars defeated some handy staying fields overseas, which included a four-length win before coming to Australia and it showed at Bendigo.

Winning second up could be the query here, but he’s still paying nice odds for the risk and this field isn’t any better than what he faced last start.

Canterbury free tips and form

Race 1. (18:15) Canterbury Nights Maiden Plate (1550m)

#5 – Semper Fidelis @ $2.40 – BET NOW

Chris Waller lines up this three-year-old filly which finished off well for third on debut.

The High Chaparral filly settle back at Warwick Farm before coming with a big run to finish with a half-length of the well-fancied Popular.

She is bred to enjoy the longer distances and she looks a good bet in the first race of the card at Canterbury.

Race 2. (18:45) Maiden Plate (1550m)

#7 – Jaunty @ $2.25 – BET NOW

This well-bred four-year-old has placed in three of her four starts and a win looks likely here.

The Waller-trained runner finished close behind the winner at Kembla Grange last start and her form prior included some nice finishes behind quality types.

Waller bypassed an easier race midweek to run here, which is always a good sign, and she looks to map perfectly for this race.

Race 3. (19:15) Summer Hospitality Maiden (1200m)

#6 – Aqua D’ivina @ $2.75 – BET NOW

The three-year-old filly finished second on debut at Warwick Farm in March before being sent out for a spell.

The Matthew Smith-trained daughter of Pierro handled the heavy track well, but the dry conditions should suit better and that debut run came behind Almanzora, which has since performed well at a high level.

Drawing barrier three will allow her to find a nice position and she’s being well-backed with bookmakers.

Race 4. (19:45) Tab Handicap (1100m)

#7 – Empress Matilda @ $6 – BET NOW

Bookmakers are offering nice odds for this last start winner which looks to have plenty of ability.

The Hawkes-trained three-year-old filly finished a narrow second on debut at Warwick Farm before winning by a half-length on this track last start.

That win came over subsequently winner Tiki Bar and the form out of that race has stood up very well since.

She has a torrent of natural pace which is vital around this track and the well-favoured runners in this field have drawn awkwardly.

She should get a good run in transit and be tough to beat.

Race 5. (20:15) ANZ Bloodstock Handicap (1200m)

#3 – Serene Miss @ $2.45 – BET NOW

Looking to remain unbeaten after three starts is Serene Miss.

The Kris Lees-trained four-year-old scored a narrow win on debut at Beaumont before scoring an easy 3.4-length win at Scone last start.

She showed a good change of pace on that occasion and although she meets a much harder field here, she looks to have more ability than most.

We’re expecting her odds to shorten as the race gets closer.

Once again, all odds are with Sportsbet – our No. 1 rated bookmaker. New signups can claim a $501* bonus bet with Sportsbet by clicking HERE.
