Makybe Diva Stakes Form Guide & Tips
1. Mr Brightside (Best Bet – $1.90)
Mr Brightside is one of the best thoroughbreds in Australia and that was evident with his impressive win last time out.
He didn’t have all favours in the run, but still managed to beat a similar field, so the two-time Doncaster Mile winner deserves to be favourite.
Punters must take an odds-on quote, but he’s on top of our selections.
2. Alligator Blood ($3.90)
Alligator Blood was under a length behind Mr Brightside in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes, so he doesn’t need to improve much to win.
The seven-year-old owns three wins and a placing from four starts at Flemington, and racing against a small field suits.
He wants to control the pace, so he’s a good chance if he leads.
3. Spanish Mission ($67)
Spanish Mission is looking for more distance, and he’s a staying type for the spring. However, he shouldn’t be beating this field.
4. Aegon ($26)
The Kiwi runner is enigmatic at best, but his effort fresh up at Caulfield is a solid form guide.
He didn’t follow it up with much behind Mr Brightside last time out, but his best form is good enough to win this race.
His odds are drifting, but he’s a first four hope with luck in running.
5. Francesco Guardi ($31)
A nice enough type, but we’re not sure if he’s at Group 1 level. He ran 10th at Randwick last time out, so he needs to improve on that.
After opening at $34, his odds have firmed a touch, so that’s a good sign.
6. Osipenko (Best Roughie – $12)
The four-year-old showed good speed when hitting the line nicely in the Memsie, which is the best form guide.
He ran a close fifth behind Fangirl prior to that, so he’s good enough to include in selections off the inside barrier.
7. Princess Grace (Best Each Way – $4.60)
With eight wins and nine placings from 18 starts, Princess Grace is a runner worth including at each-way odds.
She ran second behind Mr Brightside in the Memsie, and she’s a tough import, who can’t be overlooked at the price.
We’re happy to include her in selections.
