Our best bets for Hong Kong Sprint 2022

Best Bet:

#4 Lucky Sweynesse @ $2.80 Bet @ betr

Best Each Way Bet:

#1 Wellington @ $4 Bet @ betr

Best Roughie:

#13 Meikei Yell @ $11 Bet @ betr

Hong Kong Sprint Trifecta Tips

Punters should have four runners on their ticket for the Hong Kong Sprint trifecta.

  • Lucky Sweynesse
  • Wellington
  • Meikei Yell
  • Gendarme

Hong Kong Sprint First-Four Tips

We have included five runners for our Hong Kong Sprint first-four.

  • Lucky Sweynesse
  • Wellington
  • Meikei Yell
  • Gendarme
  • Cordyceps Six

Hong Kong Sprint Form Guide & Tips

1. Wellington (Best Each Way – $4) Bet @ betr

Wellington didn’t fire last start behind Lucky Sweynesse but he’s better than that and we’re giving him another chance.

He was the best sprinter in Hong Kong prior to that result, so the 11-time winner from 18 demands respect in the Hong Kong Sprint at each-way odds.

2. Sky Field ($34)

Bet @ betr

A former top-liner who hasn’t been performing at his best. He’ll likely struggle to recapture his earlier form.

3. Gendarme ($9)

Bet @ betr

Fresh up having won the Sprinters Stakes in Japan and that form usually holds up well in Hong Kong.

He hasn’t always shown much consistency throughout his career, which is the concern, but punters should include him in trifecta and first four selections.

4. Lucky Sweynesse (Best Bet – $2.80)

Bet @ betr

Lucky Sweynesse showed his ability when winning the Jockey Club Sprint with ease and he’s a Group 1 winner in the making.

The four-year-old owns seven wins and three placings from 10 starts, so he’s high class and the deserving favourite.

Having Zac Purton could be enough to win.

5. Super Wealthy ($26)

Bet @ betr

He scored a good win two back at Sha Tin when beating Cordyceps Six, but we’re unsure if that form measures up well enough.

The seven-year-old typically finds a couple better in the big races.

6. Naran Huleg ($13)

Bet @ betr

A Japanese runner who ran 1.1 lengths behind Gendarme last start. It’s a solid form guide but we would rather include Gendarme in selections as opposed to Naran Huleg.

7. Stronger ($34)

Bet @ betr

He’s not running well enough this season and his best form came at handicap level. Hugh Bowman rides but he could be struggling at the top of the straight.

8. Lim’s Kosciuszko ($34)

Bet @ betr

We don’t rate Singapore form, and although he owns 11 wins from 14 starts, we can’t see that form holding up well in Hong Kong.

9. Duke Wai ($34)

Bet @ betr

A consistent runner coming off a third placing behind Lucky Sweynesse as a $69 chance.

Punters get big odds again but it’s going to be hard to replicate that performance.

10. Cordyceps Six ($17)

Bet @ betr

Second behind Super Wealthy fresh up before running behind Wellington and Lucky Sweynesse.

A little shorter than expected in betting markets, but he’s a first-four inclusion with luck from the wide draw.

11. Courier Wonder ($41)

Bet @ betr

Looked good when winning his first four starts but that form hasn’t been the same since.

He has struggled against the better opposition and his struggles are likely to continue on Sunday.

12. Sight Success ($26)

Bet @ betr

Better when fourth in the Jockey Club Sprint as an $81 chance. However, he would need to improve and we can’t see that happening.

13. Meikei Yell (Best Roughie – $11)

Bet @ betr

Meikei Yell owns seven wins from 13 starts and the Japanese sprinter could bounce back after struggling behind Gandarme.

Her form prior included consecutive wins at Group 2 level and she’s good enough to figure in the finish at generous odds.

14. Resistencia ($13)

Bet @ betr

Recent form hasn’t been good enough and we don’t think she’s running well enough to be considered at $13.
