Golden Rose Form Guide & Tips
1. Militarize ($9.50)
He ended last preparation with consecutive wins, so something close to that form takes him close.
Better for the fresh up run and having that fitness under his belt could help.
2. Shinzo (Best Bet – $5.50)
The Golden Slipper winner can’t be overlooked, and he looks ready to fire following a trial win.
Ryan Moore takes the ride, and his international experience could be enough to see him return in a big way.
Punters get each-way odds from bookmakers.
3. Cylinder ($4.40)
Cylinder comes off consecutive wins this preparation, but there is some trepidation with bookmakers.
There’s no doubting that he’s a tough type, but we’re a little worried by the horses he has beaten in the spring.
However, we’re happy to include him in selections.
4. King Colorado (Best Each Way – $6.50)
King Colorado wasn’t too far away last time out, but his form prior was exceptional.
The three-year-old colt by Kingman has been specked throughout the week, and his odds could continue to firm.
He didn’t have all favours last start, so include.
5. Don Corleone ($35)
He hasn’t shown much lately, so we can’t have him in selections.
6. Libertad ($16)
The three-year-old colt started his career with three consecutive wins before struggling last time out.
He’s good enough to bounce back, but this is a tough race, so we’re prepared to leave him out of selections.
7. Moravia ($14)
Running second behind Cylinder is a solid form guide. He is still a work in progress, and he could mature into a Group 1 type.
Barrier four is ideal and he will get a nice trip in transit.
8. Encap ($9.50)
Encap capped off consistent form with a win at Rosehill last start, and he ran good closing sectionals.
The son of Capitalist owns a win and a placing from two starts at the track, so he’s a first four chance at his best.
9. Butch Cassidy ($41)
He’s only a one-time winner from six starts, and we don’t think that form is good enough to handle Group 1 level.
10. Nadal (Best Roughie – $23)
We liked the way Nadal hit the line when running third last time out, which followed an impressive win.
Barrier 13 makes life tough, but he could settle back and fire up late.
11. Snapback ($91)
The odds tell the story. He would need to improve significantly to win at this level, having just broken maiden grades at Goulburn.
12. General Salute ($41)
Another runner who doesn’t have much exposed form at the higher levels. He’s likely to struggle.
13. Charm Stone ($6.50)
A quality filly who could measure up. Fillies have one win from 47 Golden Rose races, but she’s good enough to figure in the finish.
