The recent storm in Melbourne has forced trainers to scratch their runners over the last 10 days, but the night racing circuit continues at Moonee Valley this Friday where the weather is expected to play its part.
An eight-race card has been presented to punters and it includes some short-priced runners and some good each way value across the board.

Moonee Valley free tips & form
Race 1. (18:30) CRT/Whites Rural Plate (1000m)
#1 – Al Naifa @ $2.45 – BET NOW
A big move has come for this debutante, which comes from the powerful stable of Tony McEvoy.
The two-year-old filly by Redoute’s Choice has looked good at the trials which is enough to see a big move in the market.
She reached $2.70 before being smashed into $2.45 in a matter of minutes and that’s a good show of confidence from punters and most likely the stable as well.
Drawing barrier three is going to land her right on the speed and that’s the place to be around a tight-turning Moonee Valley track.
Race 3. (19:30) Follow The Valley Handicap (1200m)
#2 – Kardashing @ $5.50 – BET NOW
Kardashing comes out of a strong race which also involved Bella Martini.
The Jason Warren-trained filly finished second in the race and it was a credible effort after doing plenty of work early in the race.
The daughter of Redoute’s Chioce worked to the lead at Sandown and was only narrowly run down by Ocean Deep right on the line. That looks to be the best form guide for this race and her form prior included a placing at stakes level.
Punters are getting good value at the $5.50 price and those odds might drop.
Race 4. (20:00) Bertocchi Christmas Masterpiece Handicap (1000m)
#8 – Alaskan Sun @ $4.80 – BET NOW
The Robert Smerdon-trained four-year-old hasn’t raced since April when she finished third at Sandown, but she saves her best when fresh up.
She has won two of her 14 starts with four placings and although the 1000m might be short of her best, she does have the class advantage on this field.
The equal favourite (Our Luca) ran a poor race last time to the races and we think the advantage is clearly with Alaskan Sun in this situation.
Race 5. (20:30) Ladbrokes 55 Second Challenge (955m)
#12 – Camila Lucinda @ $5 – BET NOW
Camila Lucinda has already won twice this preparation and another strong showing looks on the cards this Friday night.
The three-year-old filly scored a narrow victory at Yarra Valley to open her campaign before stepping up in company and running fourth behind the talented Nature Strip.
She quickly rebounded after that defeat by winning easily at Moonee Valley last start and that winning experience around this track is ideal.
She can run quick times and the 3kg apprentice in the saddle is going to help her chances.
Race 6. (21:00) 1Print Handicap (1200m)
#1 – Another Diamond @ $5 – BET NOW
Carrying the big weight will be tough, but this five-year-old mare has plenty of sprinting power.
The Bill Cerchi-trained mare scorched the turf at Dunkeld last start when winning by five lengths on a slow track.
Conditions won’t change much for this and the daughter of Mint Lane has run well at Moonee Valley in the past.
She has won and placed from six starts on this track and barrier two will allow her to rail up and be tough to run down on this leaders’ track.
Race 7. (21:30) CRT Davey Dash Handicap (1200m)
#8 – Just Hifalutin ($4) – BET NOW
A three-time winner from seven starts, Just Hifalutin brings solid each way claims to an even field.
The four-year-old mare finished 2.85-lengths behind the winner at Mornington to kick off her preparation before winning impressively by a length at Geelong.
Not everything went her way last start at Cranbourne as the $2.60 favourite, but the rise in distance didn’t help her chances.
Back to the 1200m here and she should be in the thick of the action.
Race 8. (22:00) Opus Group Handicap (1514m)
#7 – So Far Sokool @ $1.65 – BET NOW
The former New Zealand runner was desperately unlucky to not win last start at Sandown and punters are expecting better luck this time around.
The odds-on favourite was considered good enough to run in the Champagne Stakes on this track in September and her second placing in the Twilight Glow Stakes last start was full of merit.
She is knocking on the door of her first Australian win and its likely to come in the final event of the night.
