Australian Cup Tips for Trifecta
Punters should have four runners on their ticket for the Australian Cup trifecta. We recommend taking a boxed percentage trifecta. Spend what you want, and the payouts can be massive.
- Mr Brightside
- Pride of Jenni
- Legarto
- Atishu
Australian Cup First-Four Tips
We have included five runners for our Australian Cup first-four. Boxing all five selections for a percentage can still result in a huge payout, and you spend what you want.

- Legarto
- Atishu
- Cascadian
Australian Cup Form Guide & Tips
(1) Mr Brightside (Best Bet – $2.40)
Mr Brightside received a questionable ride last start, but he’s a champion thoroughbred who can bounce back.
We would love to see him settle closer to the speed, which will be set by Pride of Jenni, and we fancy his chances of running her down.
(2) Cascadian ($8.50)
He will settle back and attempt to run on well off a good speed. However, we think his odds are too short for our liking.
His last start third was solid, but we’re happy to leave him out of our trifecta calculations and include him only for first-four picks.
(3) Vow and Declare ($27.00)
That was a great return to racing when running second fresh up, but they’re likely to go too quickly for him.
Wait for the former Melbourne Cup winner to race in something more suited to stayers.
(4) Dom to Shoot ($67.00)
We’re not keen on his form, and he has yet to win or place from two starts at Flemington. We don’t see that changing anytime soon.
(5) Young Werther ($26.00)
We think Young Werther is a level below these runners, despite winning last time out.
He likely has a solid win later this autumn, but there are some genuine Group 1 contenders in this race, and he’s not one of them.
(6) Esti Feny ($151.00)
He comes off a third placing behind Young Werther, and he would need to find a few lengths on that effort to win.
(7) Pride of Jenni (Best Each Way – $2.90)
Pride of Jenni isn’t paying each-way odds, but she’s the clear second pick in the 2024 Australian Cup.
She showed them a clean pair of heels when beating Mr Brightside last start, and she will push forward and be tough to run down.
The only chance of her failing to fire is if she gets taken on in front, but we can’t see that happening.
(8) Atishu ($6.50)
She opened at $5.00, which was too short for our liking, despite coming off a win.
She is a genuine Group 1 contender, so she’s in our picks, but most of her best form has come against fillies and mares.
(9) Legarto (Best Roughie – $12.00)
Legarto is a Kiwi champion, who won her only start at Flemington in the Australian Guineas.
She might have been beaten last time out, but she didn’t have the run to suit. At her best, she has enough speed to beat this field.
