It’s round 22 of the 2017 AFL season and there are still four teams fighting it out for the final two places in the top eight; Melbourne (who appear to be the safest), Western Bulldogs, West Coast, and Essendon.
Needless to say, those teams will be putting everything on the line in the final two rounds of the home and away season to clinch a finals birth.
This week looks like a great week for the punters! We think there are going to be a few tight games but we are also predicting a few blowouts with out 40+ margin bets this week,
As usual, our multi for the week is at the bottom of the match reviews.
Read on to find out what we like for round 22 of the 2017 AFL season!

19:50 Adelaide ($1.65) v Sydney ($2.25) @ Adelaide Oval
What an absolute cracker of a match we have on Friday night at the Adelaide Oval this week!
Both teams are at the top of their game and will likely square-off at some stage in September.
Adelaide were challenged at times by the Bombers last week but always found an answer. Betts had a quiet game but he won’t have two in a row.
Buddy was at his best in Sydney’s demolition of Fremantle last week and will be looking to continue with that form as we head into finals.
This will be a great match but we’ll take the Swans to win a close one.
Betting tip: Sydney 1-39 @ $2.63 (BET NOW)
Sydney by 12
13:45 Western Bulldogs ($1.85) v Port Adelaide ($1.96) @ Eureka Stadium
The Bulldogs take on Port Adelaide in a must-win game in Ballarat.
The Dogs face a tough task needing to beat Port Adelaide and Hawthorn to make the finals, because there poor percentage won’t give them a chance if they win only one of those games. The will be primed for this one.
Port Adelaide have played below their best in recent weeks but are still managing to get some wins on the board. They will need to be on their game from the start or they will risk getting blown out by the dogs.
I’m predicting both teams to be well-prepared for this one and ready to go from the first bounce. I’ll take Port Adelaide to win a great game of footy.
Betting tip: Port Adelaide 1-39 @ $2.40 (BET NOW)
Port Adelaide by 22
14:10 Collingwood ($2.60) v Geelong ($1.50) @ MCG
Geelong were brilliant last Saturday afternoon against the Tigers in Geelong – in a game that we tipped the Tigers to have a big win. The $1.50 H2H odds are almost too good to be true in this match!
Collingwood are finishing the season strongly but still came up short against Port Adelaide last week. They’ll be competitive in this one but we think Geelong will run away to a comfortable victory in the end.
Betting tip: Geelong 40+ @ $4.33 (BET NOW)
Geelong by 52
16:35 GWS ($1.25) v West Coast ($4.00) @ Spotless Stadium
GWS were back to their best against the Bulldogs last Friday night and Toby Greene made an immediate impact coming back into the side. He has been cleared to play this week after putting his boot in the face of Luke Dahlhaus – and so he should be!
West Coast held off a brave Carlton last week to keep their finals hopes alive. They face a massive task to make the finals and will need to win at least one of their next two games against the two best teams in the comp.
I think they’ll lose this one by a significant margin and they are likely to miss out on finals this year.
Betting tip: GWS 40+ @ $2.50 (BET NOW)
GWS by 48
19:25 Gold Coast ($3.00) v Essendon ($1.39) @ Metricon Stadium
The Suns started off looking like a new team last week against the Lions, but that quickly disappeared in the second quarter and they were back to being the same average Suns we’ve seen over the last five years. Ablett is a chance to play this week so keep an eye on his name on Thursday night.
The Bombers were good at times against the Crows last week and they get Zach Merritt back this week after serving a one match ban. They continued to show that if they get the ball moving through the middle of the ground, they are a fast-moving, fast-scoring side.
The Bombers must win their next two matches to play finals and they should win this one easily.
Betting tip: Essendon 40+ @ $3.00 (BET NOW)
Essendon by 60
19:25 Carlton ($3.40) v Hawthorn ($1.32) @ Etihad Stadium
The Blues are making teams work extremely hard for the win and are continuing to show they will be a force in the next couple of years.
Hawthorn are continue to finish on a strong note but unfortunately left their run too late to play finals this year. Josh Gibson announced his retirement this afternoon and the Hawks will want to send out Hodge and Gibson on winning notes.
I think the Hawks will be far too good in this one and will take them to win by over 40 points.
Betting tip: Hawthorn 40+ @ $3.00 (BET NOW)
Hawthorn by 60
13:10 Melbourne ($1.16) v Brisbane ($5.30) @ MCG
Melbourne started and finished strongly against the Saints in the must-win game last week. They lapsed a bit during the middle of the game, giving the Saints a sniff, but finished strongly to put the result beyond doubt.
Brisbane fought back well after a disappointing opening quarter against the Suns last week and ended up winning by nearly 10 goals. They are at the MCG this week and face a much tougher opposition, but the young Lions must never be taken lightly.
I think that Melbourne will show no mercy in this game and be rearing to go! Demons for a big win.
Betting tip: Melbourne 40+ @ $1.91 (BET NOW)
Melbourne by 70
15:20 St Kilda ($1.41) v North Melbourne ($2.95) @ Etihad Stadium
According to Shane Warne, the Saints were disgusting last week against the Demons with finals hopes on the line. The Saints would need two big wins and a few results to go their way to make finals now.
The Roos were not at their best last week against the Roos and Goldstein came under heavy criticism after his only stat in the last half was one handball. One handball. There is talk that he may seek a trade at the end of the season.
These teams match up pretty will with their contested footy but we think the Saints will get the win this week.
Betting tip: St Kilda 1-39 @ $2.10 (BET NOW)
St Kilda by 30
16:40 Fremantle ($2.90) v Richmond ($1.42) @ Domain Stadium
Fremantle were embarrassed by the Swans last week but are back at home this week. They are out of the finals race and could be looking to blood some young talent in the final rounds of the 2017 season.
Richmond got a bit of a wake up call last week and still need to be more consistent if they are to seriously threaten in September. They will want to have a good win here and will be lucky enough to see Martin go head-to-head with Fyfe this week?
We’ll take the Tigers to bounce back and have a big win in the west.
Betting tip: Richmond 40+ @ $3.60 (BET NOW)
Richmond by 54
Round 22 AFL multi bet:
We are going with a four-leg multi this week and will keep the betting stake at $50:
Port Adelaide 1-39 @ $2.40
Geelong 40+ @ $4.33
Essendon 40+ @ $3.00
Richmond 40+ @ $3.60
Total odds = $112.23
A $50 wager would pay out $5,611.5 at current odds, if successful.
