19:50 Hawthorn ($2.80) v Sydney ($1.45) @ MCG
Friday night footy is back at the G this week with the Hawks and Swans squaring off. These sides have played in some modern classics and the match earlier this season was no exception.
The Hawks are travelling along quite nicely and they are coming off a big win over Fremantle last week. Their finals hopes aren’t completely dead yet, but they will need to win the rest of their games and will need a few results to go their way.
Sydney continue to go from strength to strength and are coming off a good win over St Kilda. Their last loss was to Hawthorn but since then they’ve gone on to be the form team of the competition. We have no reason to doubt the Swans won’t make it eight wins in a row this week.
These teams always lift against each other and we expect the Swans to win but the Hawks will not get blown out.
Betting tip: Sydney 1-39 @ $2.00 (BET NOW)
Sydney by 22
13:45 North Melbourne ($2.80) v Melbourne ($1.44) @ Blundstone Arena
The young Roos were in the match for three quarters in last week’s loss to the Bombers, before fading in the last quarter. Ben Brown played one of the best games of his career against one of the best defenders in the league in Michael Hurley and he’ll need to put in a similar effort for the Roos to stay in this game.
The Demons are playing very good football and have to be taken seriously as genuine finals contenders. Playing in Tasmania is the query on them here, but we expect them to get the job done.
The Roos have the ability to keep this one tight but can they prevent a last quarter fade out, like last week?
Betting tip: Melbourne 1-39 @ $2.20 (BET NOW)
Melbourne by 32
14:10 Greater Western Sydney ($1.18) v Fremantle ($4.95) @ Spotless Stadium
Have opposition teams figured out GWS? They were simply no match for the Tigers after quarter time last week and they will be desperate to get back on the winners list against the Dockers. They are also at risk of losing their current top four position if they drop few more games.
Fremantle started favourites at home against the Hawks last week but they were smashed by 51 points. A win against GWS this week is highly unlikely but we think they will show improvement to keep the scoreline somewhat respectable against good opposition.
Betting tip: GWS 1-39 @ $2.20 (BET NOW)
GWS by 30
16:35 Port Adelaide ($1.25) v St Kilda ($4.00) @ Adelaide Oval
Both teams are coming off losses last week but Port get the home ground advantage here.
Port were outclassed against the Demons last week and will need this win to keep their top four hopes alive.
The Saints were no match for the Swans last week and playing Port Adelaide at the Adelaide Oval is another tough ask. Their best is good enough and they will need the win to stay in touch with the top eight.
The Saints at $4 is definitely overs, as their best is good enough here. Both teams have had their ups and downs this year and we’ll take Port to get the win in a tough battle.
Betting tip: Port Adelaide 1-39 @ $2.10 (BET NOW)
Port Adelaide by 24
19:25 Gold Coast ($3.25) v Richmond ($1.35) @ Metricon Stadium
Gold Coast lost to the Dogs in Cairns last week and are back at home this week.
Ablett might be a chance to come back into the side this week so keep an eye on team announcements. His inclusion will go a long way in tightening up the scoreboard in this game.
Richmond are putting together some good wins and last weeks performance against GWS was one of their best for the season. They might be starting to peak at he right time of the year and are now a big chance to finish top four.
We’ll take Richmond to have a good win here. They are playing to stay in the top four and will be ruthless against the younger Gold Coast side.
Betting tip: Richmond 40+ @ $3.30 (BET NOW)
Richmond by 60
19:25 Carlton ($4.00) v Geelong ($1.25) @ Etihad Stadium
Carlton were absolutely smashed by the Lions last week with the damage already done by half time. The tag on Bryce Gibbs was a genius move by the Lions last week but he should get more freedom against the Cats, who are not likely to see him as a big threat.
Geelong were outclassed by Adelaide last Friday night and have lost Bliccavs due to injury. Geelong’s midfield will be too good for the Blues this week and they will get away to a solid win.
We’re liking the $2.40 odds for Geelong 40+ and this is our bet of the round!
Betting tip: Geelong 40+ @ $2.40 (BET NOW)
Geelong by 52
13:10 Western Bulldogs ($1.97) v Essendon ($1.85) @ Etihad Stadium
The Bulldogs were pretty good against the Suns last week but are facing a much tougher opponent here. The Dogs have also lost Redpath (suspension) and Morris (injury) for this clash and their depth could be tested. Does Cloke come back into the side this week?
The Bombers were pushed to the limit by the Roos last week but lifted in the final quarter for a hard-fought win. They are now in the eight and will be desperate to keep that spot.
The Bombers and Bulldogs are on the same points (36), which makes this an even more important game as we come to the end of the year.
This should be a close one but the Bombers should account for the Dogs here. This is our second best pick of the week.
Betting tip: Essendon 1-39 @ $2.40 (BET NOW)
Essendon by 20
15:20 Collingwood ($3.20) v Adelaide ($1.35) @ MCG
Collingwood pulled off an unbelievable comeback over the Eagles last week in which they overcam a 25 point deficit in the final quarter to win by eight point. Last week was a tough task and this is tougher.
Adelaide and Rory Sloane were very impressive against the Cats last Friday night but they travel to Melbourne this week. They will be without Eddie Betts who had his appendix removed on Sunday night.
We’ll tip the Crows to have a big win against the Pies this week.
Betting tip: Adelaide 40+ @ $2.88 (BET NOW)
Adelaide by 60
16:40 West Coast ($1.10) v Brisbane ($7.00) @ Domain Stadium
West Coast would be devastated with last weeks capitulation against Collingwood. They blew a big chance and slipped outside the top eight as a result.
Brisbane were very impressive against the Blues last week but this game is much, much harder. They will also be without the services of midfielder Dayne Zorker who is out with a one match suspension.
West Coast will bounce back with a big percentage-boosting win here.
Betting tip: West Coast 40+ @ $1.62 (BET NOW)
West Coast by 74
Round 19 AFL multi bet:
We are going with a five-leg multi this week and will keep the betting stake at $50:
Sydney 1-39 @ $2.00
Richmond 40+ @ $3.30
Geelong 40+ @ $2.40
Essendon 1-39 @ $2.40
Adelaide 40+ @ $2.88
Total odds = $109.49
A $50 wager would pay out $5,474.50 at current odds, if successful.
